All new employers will require new HVAC employee’s to have their EPA-HVAC certification card, which is acquired through a test taken at certified testing centers. The EPA requires the student to pass a comprehensive test on his knowledge of HVAC units and handling of hazardous materials (freon), the gas which makes air conditioning possible. Because this gas is harmful to the environment when handled improperly, the Federal Government (EPA) requires EPA certification for HVAC tech’s to be able to use and purchase refrigerant, as well as have basic knowledge of HVAC systems in three different categories. At South Florida Academy of Air Conditioning, this test is given to all students who enroll in our HVAC training center at our approved testing center and the testing fee’s are included in the price of tuition. Your HVAC certification cards will be mailed to your home address once the test is taken, and will be active once the student has completed his/her training.
